摘要

Falls and fragility fractures are pressing concerns in geriatric care, embodying the convergence of geriatric syndromes such as osteosarcopenia, polypharmacy, cognitive impairment, and frailty. These fractures often lead to permanent disability, functional decline, and increased mortality rates. A holistic approach is essential to understand the intricate relationship between osteosarcopenia, falls, and frailty, considering both musculoskeletal and non-musculoskeletal risk factors for fragility fractures. Collaboration and teamwork are pivotal in developing comprehensive solutions to mitigate the repercussions of these fractures. The fragility fracture network (FFN) advocates a four-pillar strategy encompassing promotion/prevention, acute phase management, discharge planning, and follow-up to treat and prevent fragility fractures. This chapter thoroughly examines these pillars and underscores the crucial role of orthogeriatrics in achieving optimal outcomes.
