Integration: A Unified Frailty Framework

  • Domenico Azzolino,

摘要

Frailty is today a widely recognized condition across many disciplines and specialties. However, much debate remains over how to measure frailty in clinical and research settings. The lack of agreement has undoubtedly slowed the implementation of frailty screening and management in routine clinical practice and generated fruitless (and, sometimes, misleading) controversies in the research field. Frailty is a multidimensional condition and, as such, should not be addressed as a traditional nosological entity/disease. It requires a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach that values frequently neglected signs and symptoms of the older person, with the final aim of developing a person-centered plan of intervention.
