摘要

Geroscience is an emerging field that aims to improve healthspan and frailty by targeting the underlying biological mechanisms of aging. Aging is characterized by various hallmarks, including cellular senescence, mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammation, and metabolic dysregulation, which contribute to the development of chronic diseases and frailty. Geroscience interventions focus on exercise, nutrition, and pharmacological agents. Exercise, particularly resistance and aerobic training, has been shown to enhance physical function and reduce frailty in older adults. Resistance training helps increase muscle mass and strength, while aerobic exercise improves cardiovascular health and preserves muscle mass. Nutritional interventions, such as protein supplementation and adherence to a Mediterranean diet, have demonstrated potential in preventing or treating frailty. Pharmacological agents like metformin, senolytic drugs, and mitochondria-targeted antioxidants are being investigated for their ability to target aging processes and improve frailty outcomes. Geroscience offers a promising approach to enhance healthy aging, delay age-related diseases, and improve overall well-being in older adults.
