Australia
摘要
The first time balls in Australia was introduced in 1853. Time balls at Sydney and Newcastle in New South Wales, Semaphore in South Australia, Williamstown and Geelong in Victoria, and Hobart in Tasmania were listed in 1880, together with a flag signal at Queenscliff in Victoria and a time gun at Hobart. A new time ball at Brisbane in Queensland was added in 1894, earlier time ball and gun signals having proved unreliable. Four more, at Fremantle in Western Australia, Devonport in Tasmania, and Port Pirie and Port Adelaide in South Australia, were added in 1900, 1907, 1917 and 1920. A flag signal at Geelong was listed and then discontinued before a new time ball was installed there in 1922. The time gun at Hobart was the only one in Australia listed by the Admiralty as a primary signal. Unlisted time guns had existed at various locations throughout Australia.
