The Rise of Energy Justice Research
摘要
Energy justice celebrates just over a decade in research this year. It has been growing steadily over the period 2013–2023. During this time, it has crossed over into practice internationally and grown in scope in leading international interdisciplinary research. At its core are five energy justice principles with four of these heavily used after beginning with three principles (tenets). This chapter highlights the key features in the growth of energy justice since 2013 and highlights how restorative justice emerged. Overall, the energy sector has an opportunity to grow and develop with justice at its heart and given the economic, socio-economic inequalities and climate change issues, there will be no second chance. While the legal community is responsible for the very early development of energy justice, there is a lot more to do as other research communities are more responsive to researching energy justice issues. Energy justice research is collaborative and forward looking and it will be an exciting decade of future research. Restorative justice, since its introduction in 2017 into the energy justice framework, has had a fundamental role to play in ensuring that energy justice occurs.
