摘要

Wireless full-duplex (FD) communication, as one of the key technologies for next-generation wireless networks, offers the capability for simultaneous transmission and reception within the same frequency band. This advancement theoretically doubles link capacity and spectrum efficiency. However, introducing multiple FD transmission modes generates intricate interference patterns in distributed wireless networks, posing substantial challenges for FD MAC protocol design and network performance optimization. To effectively translate the FD link capacity gain into network-level improvements, developing an efficient FD MAC protocol becomes imperative. In this chapter, we first provide an overview of wireless FD communication and then highlight the challenges within three FD enabled wireless network scenarios: wireless local area networks, multi-hop networks, and millimeter-wave networks. Finally, we outline the structure of this book.
