摘要

Food production and food security associated with it are directly related to crop agriculture. Climate and soil properties influence the extent of crop agriculture greatly. Climate change can influence food availability, access, utilization, and stability over time. Agriculture contributes to climate change by emission of greenhouse gases and reduction of carbon storage in vegetation and soil. Global warming weakens the soil health and ecosystem services. The application of pesticides and fertilizers is also responsible for environmental pollution. Nevertheless, agriculture affects the environment by land conversion, eutrophication, irrigation, and drainage. Overall, agriculture reduces biodiversity. However, in addition to the major environmental changes impacting the food security that arises basically from the agricultural practices, an integrated food system approach is needful for fixing all possible sources. A sustainable food system requires more than that of only technological solutions for increasing the food production.
