Brief Overview of Challenges Linked to Food Security

A growing human population’s food security is jeopardized by population growth, environmental degradation, limited natural resources, poor soil quality, and changing climate. Malnutrition affects millions of people globally, with 98% of them living in developing nations. Every year, hunger is the primary cause of death for almost 6 million children globally. Food security requires the stability of yield gaps, which involves improving agricultural and livestock production efficiency, reducing food waste, implementing greenhouse gas abatement, and embracing agricultural and animal husbandry technologies that increase yields. These policies boost food production while protecting natural resources. To maximize yield, recent scientifically advanced technologies like as genetic engineering, disease-resistant variations, artificial insemination, enhanced genetics and breeding methods, cloning, and immunomodulatory must be applied. This chapter highlights the factors influencing food production as well as preventive measures for enhancing food output.
