Fundamentals of Wavelet Filter Banks
摘要
Recognised for its capacity to effectively capture and analyse signals in both the time and frequency domains, orthogonal wavelets are a vital tool in signal processing and data analysis. Two essential characteristics of orthogonal wavelets are their self-similarity and orthogonality. Wavelet transforms are guaranteed to retain signal energy and enable effective signal reconstruction when they are orthogonal. Wavelets have the ability to capture properties of signals at many scales due to their self-similarity, which makes them especially useful for analysing signals that have both global and localised characteristics. The ability of orthogonal wavelets to split signals into distinct frequency bands with the least amount of distortion and redundancy is one of their main advantages. In a variety of applications, including image processing, audio compression, and biomedical signal analysis, this multiresolution analysis makes signal denoising, compression, and feature extraction easier. In addition, the orthogonality property makes the inversion process easier and permits accurate reconstruction of the signal from wavelet coefficients. This is an important feature for applications like data transfer and medical imaging where precise signal recovery is required.
