摘要

The main cause of surgical site infections (SSI) is the colonization of the wound with bacteria. Bacteria survive in the air only on particles such as skin flakes, hairs and dust. Particle sizes that can contain bacteria are typically larger than 0.5 μm. The objective of air ventilation in the Operating Room (OR) is to decrease the number of particles and bacteria in the air.
