摘要

Tourniquet use during total knee arthroplasty has the advantages of improving the visibility of the operative field, facilitating the procedure, reducing intraoperative blood loss, and improving the interdigitating of cement. It may be associated with a decreased surgical time. In contrast, tourniquet use causes both arterial and venous stasis. As such it results in local muscle damage and thigh pain and could be associated with delayed wound healing, stiffness, and thromboembolic events.
