Preoperative Physiotherapy in Arthroplasty: Supporting, Triaging, and Preparing Patients

Physiotherapy is a healthcare discipline focused on developing, maintaining, and/or restoring movement and function capabilities to improve and support quality of life throughout individuals’ lifetime. This goal is achieved through rehabilitation, disease and injury prevention, education, and health promotion. Physiotherapists are primary healthcare professionals who can provide a broad range of noninvasive and nonpharmacological interventions to support quality of life based on a combination of different knowledge and skills specific to physiotherapy. They work in collaboration with patients and families, and other healthcare professionals [1].
