摘要

If properly indicated in cases with advanced arthritis and frustrating conservative therapy outcome, modern total joint arthroplasty (TJA) (total knee arthroplasty, TKA and total hip arthroplasty, THA) as one of the most frequent surgical procedures remains with significant pain relief and functional improvement. Nevertheless, several complications may occur, i.e. stiffness, instability, or impaired wound healing while (deep) periprosthetic joint infection (PJI), in particular, continues to be a serious problem.
