Artificial Intelligence in Law

  • Christian Posthoff

摘要

Artificial intelligence methods are also finding their way into case law. This development is only just beginning, but it is extraordinary. At present, court proceedings are very lengthy and expensive and do not always lead to clear results. In Germany, there are 1.3 million regulations, rules, and laws that can be applied to a person. Legal systems based on English rules are case-based. New cases are essentially not allowed to deviate from existing judgments. This again makes it necessary to use large databases. Searching for similar cases is not difficult; what is complicated is finding a measure for the similarity of cases. Ways and means must be sought to simplify the case law, to process it with patterns, and to eliminate existing contradictions.
