Gaming Disorder
摘要
During the COVID-19 pandemic, excessive gaming behaviors increased as social lockdowns went into effect. The video game ecosystem has continued to grow, becoming more accessible with emerging trends such as mobile gaming, virtual reality (VR), and cross play options. Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) was recognized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth Edition (DSM-5) in 2013 as a condition that required further study and was categorized under addictive disorders. In 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO) included Gaming Disorder in the International Classification of Diseases 11th Revision (ICD-11). As Internet Gaming Disorder receives greater global attention, it is important to consider the diverse factors involved in its development, diagnosis, and treatment. This chapter aims to summarize the existing literature on Internet Gaming Disorder, focusing on its epidemiology, etiology, neurobiology, clinical features and diagnosis, and prevalent medical and psychiatric comorbidities.
