Evolution of Breast Imaging in Plastic Surgery

We discuss five landmark advances in breast imaging within plastic and reconstructive surgery from the last several decades, focusing on their contributions in guiding surgical care. We also discuss in depth the context of each landmark paper, delving further into the practices before the innovation, its relevance to clinical care and research, and the more recent developments in breast imaging following its publication. We also highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the innovations in breast imaging, commenting on the future of each imaging modality as surgical care continues to advance.
