Evolution of Wound Healing

We review five pivotal conceptual advances in wound healing over the last 60 years, spotlighting one landmark publication in each of these areas and its impact in guiding clinical care and catalyzing further research and innovation. In addition, we selected other references that provide further context on more recent developments in these areas along with our own clinical experience and provide our opinions on these treatment modalities’ strengths and shortcomings in achieving widespread penetrance in today’s clinical setting, discussing potential parameters that may be used to guide future innovations in wound care.
