Inflammatory and Degenerative Disease of the Hand and Upper Extremity

This chapter provides an overview of common causes and conditions associated with inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the hand and wrist. The topics discussed span several decades in order to provide a comprehensive pathoanatomical approach to this broad topic. Throughout the synopsis, we reference eminent articles that have significantly contributed to our understanding of modern treatment options and pathophysiology in autoimmune inflammatory conditions and degenerative arthropathies. We believe that these five key articles have provided substantial influence in this topic and are therefore explored in detail.
