摘要

In this chapter, the ‘Evolution of breast reconstruction’ is discussed in the context of five landmark papers that have guided its development. For many years, mastectomy was a common treatment for breast cancer, but reconstructive options were not available until relatively recently. This review examines the history of autologous breast reconstruction although the details of the individual reconstructive options are not discussed in detail. The lower abdomen has become the preferred autologous donor reconstructive site impact in autologous breast reconstruction. The papers are discussed in detail including their strengths and weaknesses and overall impact.
