Global Governance- Peace
摘要
Peace and Security seemed to be an impossible dream when this book was written. Are inequalities the trigger for most conflicts, including war? Will there be peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16) when inequalities are reduced (SDG 10)? These SDGs shaped the thinking in this chapter for Quality Education (SDG 4), a children’s right. The introduction of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) sharpened the focus of educators on the importance of educating for global competence and its presence in quality education. These SDGs were in mind as this chapter evolved. Promoting education for peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, with access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels begins with quality education for all children. Making thinking visible occurs in many forms and, as the images from the Prague International School show, the teachers’ and children’s thinking about SDGs is prominently displayed around the school, thus providing a visual reminder of the children’s learning about SDGs and prompting new connections they make. This connects with SDGs in this chapter and other chapters too.
