摘要

The current research investigated how the different sources of stress like role expectation conflict, inter-role distance, and stress due to organizational policies distance relate to faculties’ intentions to leave their jobs and affective commitment. The study gathered data from 200 faculties employed in various higher education institutions in Karnataka. The findings suggest that role-expectation conflict and stress from organizational policies have a significant effect on the faculties’ desire to leave their job. Role-expectation conflict and stress from organizational policies also have a strong impact on their affective commitment. However, inter-role distance did not appear to affect either turnover intentions or affective commitment. Furthermore, high levels of stress due to organizational policies can negatively impact the emotional connection that faculties develop with their work and eventually make them want to quit the organization. In summary, decreasing stress levels may increase affective commitment and reduce turnover intention. The implications of these results are discussed in detail.
