Overview of Functioning Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (F-panNETs)
摘要
Functioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors are rare malignancies developing from the hormone-producing cells (islet cells) of the pancreas. They are associated with a clinical syndrome due to one or more hormones secreted by the tumor cells. Compared to the more common nonfunctioning F-panNETs, they are characterized by distinct clinical features that need to be taken in consideration for treatment decision-making. In this chapter, a comprehensive discussion on this distinct biological entity is presented with available treatment options.
