Balancing the Decentralization Scale in Ghana to Promote Political Decentralization: A Perspective on Local Government Election in the Fourth Republic

  • Michael K. Dzordzormenyoh

摘要

Decentralization in Ghana is well-studied and documented. Yet most studies focus on administrative and fiscal decentralization. This chapter focuses on political decentralization, specifically the factors that influence citizens’ perspectives about the election of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in Ghana. The results suggest that regionality and the quality of life of Ghanaians influence citizens’ perspectives about electing MMDCEs. These results clarify citizens perspectives about local government elections in Ghana as well as offer insight for policy development.
