Detecting the Beta Radiation with a Geiger

Typical conditions to detect electrons emitted by radioactive sources and samples, with an energy up to a few MeV, are here discussed, with reference to the energy loss such electrons may undergo in the absorbing materials and their range. Examples of measurements carried out with a Geiger counter and a 90Sr source are reported, with suggestions on how to perform additional activities in this area.
