Hints for Additional Activities

A few additional suggestions and considerations are here collected, concerning further activities and experiments which could be organized by the use of Geiger counters. These include the evaluation of the activity of a sample containing radioactive isotopes, the estimation of the half-life of a radioactive source, the shielding of a Geiger counter by means of liquid water to reduce the background, the possibility to measure the radioactivity increase due to rainfall, the study of the seasonal variations in the cosmic ray flux, the study of the Compton effect and the role of anticoincidence measurements.
