The Response of a Geiger Counter by a Software Replica of the Detector

The response of a particle detector and of any material around it is often investigated through numerical simulations, which take into account all the possible interactions of the particles. The GEANT package is the reference code for a wide community of researchers, from nuclear and particle physics to medicine and space science. In this activity a few basic GEANT simulations concerning the interaction of electrons are discussed as a starting example for a simple Geiger counter.
