Detecting the Diurnal Variation of the Cosmic Ray Flux

Small variations of the cosmic ray flux along the day (diurnal variations) have been investigated in the past by means of precision measurements. Local studies of such effects may be carried out even with simple Geiger counters, also employing statistical methods which may be of interest for educational and amateur purposes. Examples are given of a data set collected over a period of approximately three months.
