Evidencing Electron Backscattering Phenomena
摘要
The backscattering process is especially important for low-energy electrons. As a result of multiple scattering, a non-negligible fraction of the electrons emitted by a beta radioactive source may be largely deflected from their original direction when traversing a material. Simple experiments making use of Geiger counters have been designed to observe such phenomenon and quantify, to some extent, the importance of this process in different materials.
