Detecting a Burst of Events in a Geiger Counter
摘要
The detection of a burst of events, an anomalous group of events in a short interval of time, may represent one of the most important findings in astroparticle physics. The possibility to detect such events depends on the background rate and on the intensity of the burst. Small data sets collected by a Geiger counter, using an additional source of radiations, are here employed to understand possible analysis techniques and introduce the basic procedures to search for these events.
