Analysis of Traffic Conflicts in Signalized Intersections Using Cellular Automata

摘要

Conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians play a vital role in urban areas. In this paper, cellular automata is used as a simulation model to study traffic conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians in three way signalized intersections. Three vehicular streams and two pedestrian streams are considered for the study. The signal time cycle is fixed as 90 s which includes 2 signal phases that are unique for both vehicles and pedestrians. The simulation process indicates that cellular automata can be used as an effective method to analyse congestion and conflicts between pedestrian-vehicular streams.
