Epilogue: A Farewell to Light
摘要
So the time has come to bid farewell. Personally, I feel that the farewell to light is like the one we bid to a great love: He or She will always exist within us, our eyes carry their image. There are, essentially speaking, no farewells. Yet as time passes, and their absence—the absence of light, of love—grows stronger, the meaning and passion of all we have experienced together come to serve as both a melancholy memory and a paradoxical support. Details are lost, colours fade. But what remains are the invaluable moments, which may have been entire centuries rather than moments; and they always speak to us with the same intensity. There is, wise men say, a nostalgia for love. I would join others in saying there is a nostalgia for light, even when the time comes to bid farewell.
