Exploring the Potential and Challenges of Robotics Adoption in the New Zealand Construction Industry

The construction industry is a critical sector that plays a vital role in economic development, infrastructure creation, and societal progress. However, the construction industry faces numerous challenges as it attempts to incorporate emerging technologies like robotics while dealing with increased competition. The research aims to evaluate the PESTLE factors associated with the potential and challenges for construction organizations, specifically in New Zealand. The focus is on understanding how these factors influence the willingness of the construction sector to learn, adopt, and integrate with Robotics. The study utilizes a mixed methods approach, combining a literature review and survey conducted in New Zealand to analyse the external macro-environmental factors influencing construction organizations. Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modelling are applied to identify significant elements affecting the industry in New Zealand. The research investigates the current state of robotics in the New Zealand construction industry, considering the macro-environmental factors. The study's findings have implications for construction organizations in New Zealand, offering insights into the factors that influence their decision-making regarding robotics adoption. The research contributes to understanding how PESTLE factors impact the industry and provide guidance for navigating challenges and leveraging opportunities.
