In Chapter 2 , we concluded that there is a lack of knowledge regarding how people living with late-stage dementia engage in communicationcommunication with other people. The impact of severe cognitive and linguistic challenges on relationships and communicationcommunication remains unclear, as does the effect of the diminished role of spoken languagespoken language in social interactionsocial interaction.
