Continuous efforts have been dedicated to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into education, particularly in teaching and learning in higher education. Hence, the successful adoption of these novel technologies is closely related to the perceptions of the college instructors leading the instructional process. College instructors’ perceptions regarding the utilization of AI have been explored by only a limited number of researchers, primarily due to a general lack of familiarity among them about how AI can be effectively employed within the classroom setting, as well as a lack of concrete understanding about the nature of AI-driven tools. This study explores the perceptions of faculty members with different disciplines (Mathematics, Information Technology, Engineering, Chemistry, and Language Arts) towards AI in education. The results revealed that most college instructors held positive perceptions of AI, viewing it as an interesting and valuable instructional and multimodal teaching resource. However, these instructors also identified potential issues from AI usage, such as the quality of responses and AI competency. These findings offer a valuable foundation for developing guidelines to integrate AI into education within higher educational institutions effectively. This is because the study presents insights into how instructors perceived using the AI-enhanced system.
