Methylene Blue in Coating Solutions for Steel Corrosion Protection
摘要
Corrosion occurres in the plant industry and millions of dollars are spent for corrosion protection management per year. The project is aimed to evaluate the effect of Methylene Blue (MB) presence on coating solutions for corrosion inhibition. The dipping method was used to prepare the coated mild steel. The coated mild steel was examined with weight loss analysis, scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation and corrosion rate was calculated. The result showed a positive effect of the MB presence in the coating solution that reduced the weight loss and corrosion rate. SEM morphology supported the results with smoother surface of the MB coated steel was observed compared to other samples. These findings concluded the great potential of MB as healing agent in the corrosion protection coating solution. It could potentially improve the durability, reliability and safety of the steel structure, and a cost-effective approach in the corrosion management in industrial plants. Please check and confirm if the author names and initials are correct.Edited
