摘要

Rayleigh surface waves take their name after Lord Rayleigh, who in 1885 predicted their existence. Rayleigh waves belong to the class of elastic waves, as shown in Fig.  1.5 in Introduction, which can propagate near the surface of elastic solids, and having the property that their amplitudes decrease gradually with the depth.
