The Role of Enterprise Architecture in the Digital Transformation of Energy

Many modern business models are built on the smooth functioning of information systems and technologies to support the activities of companies. Energy industry is not an exception, as it has been rapidly changing to keep up with digital transformation in all sectors of economy and life in general. However, a lot of factors, such as stricter requirements for energy systems, increasing complexity of energy systems and growing volumes of collected data, pose complications in the digitization of the energy industry. This became the major factor for the authors of this study to decide to inspect the role of enterprise architecture in the digital transformation of energy. Throughout this study main development trends of the energy industry were explored, IT solutions required to implement these trends were defined, and architecture of these solutions specifically in energy enterprises was established. Finally, the role of enterprise architecture modelling in the development of energy enterprises was explored.
