Automated Management Systems, Economic and Mathematical Methods, Transition to Digitalization of Management

The establishment and growth of scientific research and applied work on automating enterprise management, as well as the application of computers and mathematical techniques in economic research at SPbPU, are examined in chronological order. Sokolitsyn was the one who started this project and took an active part in it. He was the driving force behind the establishment of the “Automation of Production Management” Department at the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. The creation and use of APMS, which has been well received by governmental organizations and the general public, is being carried out at various Leningrad businesses and associations with the assistance of technical faculties and other departments. The department’s connections with similar departments at institutions, national research and design hubs, and universities of CIS are expanding. The article summarizes the scientific results of research and practical work, and their significance in the science of management, in particular, production management. The main directions and some results of research on the use of system analysis, methods, and tools of digitalization in management are also considered. It is highlighted how scientific research is used and what function it plays in bachelor’s degree programs, master’s and doctoral theses preparation, teacher professional development, and scientific publications.
