Modes of Living and Social-Ecological Transformation

  • Karl Bruckmeier

摘要

Nature has been modified through agriculture and human settlement for a long time, but the extreme forms of technological modernisation and changing forms of living began with industrialisation. In the nineteenth century began rapid urbanisation, with the migration of rural inhabitants to cities that continues until today. Social-ecological transformation requires changes in the imperial mode of living of large parts of the population in industrialised countries of the Global North, which use a large part of the global resources. Changes in modes and conditions of living imply beyond individual changes in lifestyles changes in the systemic processes of economic growth that create the divide between the countries in the Global North and South.
