Automatic Translation of Continuous and Fixed Arabic Frozen Expressions Using the NooJ Platform

Translating frozen expressions between languages is a challenging task due to the intricate linguistic and pragmatic aspects involved. It necessitates translators to possess a thorough understanding of both the target and source languages, as languages are deeply intertwined with their respective cultures. Factors such as religion, geography, ideologies and social classes further complicate the comprehension and translation of frozen expressions. This study focuses on the automatic translator development for continuous and fixed Arabic frozen expressions, intending to translate them into French and English using the NooJ platform. The research process starts by enhancing the existing lexicon-grammar tables with French and English translations of each expression. Subsequently, these enhanced tables are converted into dictionaries using the NooJ platform’s dictionary generation program developed in [2]. Finally, the efficacy of this translator is evaluated through extensive testing on diverse texts and corpora.
