Demographic Processes: Migration
摘要
This chapter introduces the process of migration, one of the three basic demographic processes. Over time, migration has become more of a contributor to population changeChange, population than either fertility or mortalityMortality, reflecting the fact that migration has become the most dynamic of the three processes within the US and internationally. The factors that contribute to migration and the implications of migration for both the sending and receiving areas are noted. The characteristics of migrants versus non-migrants are considered and trends in immigration patterns reviewed.
