Data Sources for Demography

This chapter describes the types of data that demographers use to describe a population and to address applied problems. The various categories of data are reviewed along with the manner in which these data are generated and the sources from which they can be drawn. This chapter emphasizes the breadth of the data that falls under the aegis of demographyDemography and the importance of data for the study of demographic trends.
