摘要

Solid waste management has recently reached the top of the priority list in the modern world, but modern solid waste collection practices are often neglected. Improving solid waste collection systems can benefit many aspects in solid waste management including the control of pains, gains, and needs; the correct decision making; and the action to be taken. The exact pains customers face are unsafe environment, waiting a long lime for the solid waste collection service, and being charged without getting the service. Also, a customer wants to gain fair solid waste collection service, service on time, and generation of revenue. However, most municipal councils are under pressure to improve the efficiency of solid waste collection and accuracy of information related to solid waste collection. This study integrates mobile app technology into the existing solid waste collection system to optimize collection of solid waste data and control of customer pains, needs, and gains. We found that the municipal residents indicated the desire to have solid waste collectors capable of arriving on time. In addition, others showed interest in obtaining the service of waste collection from professional solid waste collectors, using a friendly and easy payment system, and viewing current and updated solid waste information. The findings reveal that municipal residents do the jobs that create income for them which indicates that the challenge in the solid waste collection system is not about the lack of money to pay for services. So, if citizens are educated on solid waste management, they can afford to pay for services. Therefore, we propose the mobile app to be the tool for educating and informing the community on various benefits of collecting solid wastes and can play an important role in controlling the existing needs, pains, and gains of customers who seek the solid waste collection service.
