摘要

The study aims to identify the degree of satisfaction of students majoring in library and information science at the University of Jordan with the major and the reasons for their choice. The study population consisted of 150 male and female students, of whom 60 responded, a rate of 40% among the aforementioned community. This study was conducted using the descriptive survey method, which is most appropriate for a study of this nature. The results showed that the degree of students’ satisfaction with the library and information science major was medium, with the highest rating paraphrases being their satisfaction with faculty members in the department and the way in which they handled students, the availability of master’s programs, parental encouragement, and the belief that specialization is important, respectively. There were two main axes in the questionnaire: satisfaction with the library and information science major at the University of Jordan, and reasons for choosing the major. The study recommended several recommendations, including educating the community about the importance of library and information science and its role in providing important services to it, as well as educating new students about the importance and nature of specialization.
