Critical Knowledge in HR Development to Transfer from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0

Scholars believe that the constant development of innovative technologies is a challenge for human resource development. Industry 5.0 has recently showed the ability to move beyond industry 4.0 and establish long-term economic sustainability based on employee-robot co-working. However, little has been done to comprehend the practical knowledge required in human resource development to transition from industry 4.0 to industry 5.0. To fill this void, this study undertakes a thorough literature analysis to investigate the main industry 5.0 clusters and the knowledge that employees should acquire. The findings show that five clusters are related with new practical knowledge that has implications for HR development. These clusters include smart additive producing, predictive solutions, hyper customization in production, cyber-physical cognitive systems, and blockchain. Employees should have sufficient knowledge to execute customer orders via 5D printing services; analyze predictive decision-making via Machine- employee interference; horizontal robots’ integration with humans to facilitate mass production of products; cognitive capabilities; and mastery of blockchain functions. Finally, the study’s limitations have been identified, allowing for additional research in this domain.
