Empirical Analysis of Growth of the IT Sector in India and Its Sustainability in the Future

India's IT software sector has experienced rapid expansion, which has aided the nation's international prominence. The majority of the world's IT revenue comes from India. Despite growing at a respectable rate, the industry suffered during the recession. The development of the sector was hampered by several factors. They include the slowdown in the economy, local difficulties including inadequate infrastructure, a shortage of skilled personnel, low demand for IT services, and, most critically, the threat posed by newly emerging service economies. This study has concerns about the GDP contribution of India's IT industry, the number of mobile phone users, employment in the sector, government spending on IT, foreign direct investment in India, and FDI in IT-related sectors. This paper discusses the sustainability of the growth of the IT sector in the future through the econometric analysis of the previously mentioned factors, by analyzing their growth with respect to the growth of the IT sector in India. The analysis showed that the Indian IT companies concentrated on employing large numbers of highly qualified engineering graduates and established a strong learning culture that helped them prepare for their careers. Indian businesses made significant investments in the process through excellent initiatives and earned prestigious international accreditations. This study may provide a base for future research.
