Research Foundations

  • George P. Moschis

摘要

Academic research is built upon several key foundations that provide the framework for the systematic investigation of questions or problems. These foundational elements are essential for producing credible and valuable contributions to knowledge. In a scientific study, the main foundations of that guide academic research can include the following: (a) definition of the issue or topic under investigation and the specific goals and aims of the study; (b) a review prior research to understand what is already known about the topic and determine area(s) where further research is needed; (c) a theoretical basis for the study; (d) the overall approach to the study and the guiding the research design; and (e) results and their interpretation in the context of the study’s goals and research questions.
