摘要

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has emerged as a solution to several long-standing drawbacks of traditional construction project implementation processes. As a result, the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector has taken a keen interest in adopting this innovative technology. Though it has already been a few decades since the initiation of BIM, it was observed that some AEC organizations still struggle in the implementation of BIM. On the other hand, some are not experiencing the full benefits upon BIM acquisition. In fact, these hinder the successful implementation of BIM and thereby limit the possible momentum it could have been offered to the AEC sector. While there are guidelines developed for implementing BIM in projects, no empirical studies have been conducted for an in-depth understanding of BIM implementation management process globally. This has prevented the identification of appropriate approaches and strategies to successfully manage the BIM implementation in construction projects. To bring about a sufficient understanding of BIM implementation management, the need is to first identify what is to be managed in a BIM implementation. This paper presents a proposed research that aims to find a comprehensive list of aspects of BIM implementation management which could be utilized in developing a framework for future BIM implementations.
