摘要
Data management is a crucial and useful tool for construction companies due to its ability to aid business management. Data management plays an important role to construction of professionals, including quantity surveying (QS). Despite the milestones achieved within the construction industry, the QS profession faced some challenges in its upbringing. QS is an essential profession within the construction industry and requires its personnel to be exposed to and continuously involved in technologies. Thus, this study evaluated factors affecting the adoption of data management towards QS practice. The methodology of this study was conducted in three phases: literature review, data collection (via questionnaires), and data analysis. This study adopted the random sampling technique. The data was collected from quantity surveyors through questionnaires within the study area (Gauteng Province, South Africa). Furthermore, the collected data was analyzed using SPSS V 28 and presented using the mean score, frequency distribution, and principal component analysis. The mean item score of this study revealed that accessibility, efficiency, and reliability were ranked as the top three factors influencing adoption. Furthermore, this study presented factors affecting the adoption of data management towards QS, including project cost, schedule, and performance, to mention a few. The variable factors affecting the adoption of data management were grouped into different categories through the principal component analysis. The study presented factors of data management towards QS and displayed the solution to the factors affecting the adoption of data management. Articles related to the factors of data management were reviewed extensively and information was collected, however, not enough solutions for the adoption were presented.
