摘要

The third chapter is dedicated to the exploration of the neurophysiological mechanisms orchestrating the steps from nociception to pain behaviors. We delve the intricate understandings of the initial step of pain known as transduction, from the triggering event to the first receptors bound in the skin. Subsequently, the pain signal navigates through the various fibers involved in pain response and in visceral receptors. These last visceral receptors play a crucial role in elucidating radiating pain phenomena supporting significant diagnosis of pain-related pathologies. The second step of pain progression involved the transmission of the nociceptive signal according the chemical substances release from the peripheral nervous system to entry into the central nervous system. Once integrated into the central nervous system, the journey of pain involves spinal cord areas to the supraspinal structures like the thalamus and the cortex leading to pain perception. Within the supra-spinal areas, the selection of accurate balance between two pivotal components of pain will evoke the final pain behavior: the sensory-discriminative and motivational-affective aspects. Profound understandings of pain mechanisms are essential scaffold for effective of pain treatment.
